Staff is amazing.

At First Step, they ask what we want and actually follow through! At other facilities, they just tell you to go off and journal. Here, they ask, “What do you guys want to do?” It’s really nice.

  • We’ll start our journey together once you’re admitted and meet with a licensed nurse and licensed counselor. Here, we’ll get to know you, your unique situation, and how we can best help. Based on this information, we’ll create a treatment plan for your total health and wellbeing. Admission is always voluntary for anyone age 18 or older.
  • Once your criteria for detox is met, you’ll be given a semi-private room with a comfortable bed and flat-screen TV.
  • Upon review by a board-certified physician, you’ll begin your return to wellness with treatment that includes medications for withdrawal relief. These are gently tapered daily to support your symptoms. Our techniques are safe, medically accredited and evidence-based. We promise you’ll be comfortable and monitored the entire time.
  • As you work alongside our medical team and compassionate staff, and move into extended care, you’ll be given down time to settle into your new life direction and self-reflect. As you recover, you’ll build your spirit and stamina by taking advantage of our modern gym, dining facilities with nutritious food, or just relaxing in your semi-private room watching TV. You may even make a few new friends and have a little fun.
  • As the days progress, you’ll be given opportunities to talk honestly about what’s been going on and how you feel, and to experience community by meeting people with the same struggle. Through individualized counseling and group therapy with licensed counselors, you’ll be expertly guided as you explore the thoughts, behaviors and motivations behind your addiction. If family counseling is appropriate, you’ll identify enabling patterns and be set free from them through support strategies. We have gender-specific group therapy and, of course, 12-Step recovery meetings.
  • If appropriate, you will successfully progress to outpatient treatment, which features ongoing support into a substance-free lifestyle. We’ll even help you with things like prepping for a job interview or getting your driver’s license through our Peer Support Program.

Practice Areas

Our process for supporting patients through recovery is designed to help our clients achieve the best outcome possible within a safe, compassionate environment.

As you begin your recovery, you’ll be medically monitored and cared for 24/7 in our residence. Our staff will do everything in their power to ensure that you are comfortable and nurtured. They’ll stay with you through the entire detox process.

Inpatient Detox

Detox plays a critical role in addiction recovery and requires constant supervision by a medical professional.

Since no two individuals are the same, neither is the detox process. That’s why we customize our treatment programs to meet the unique needs of each person in recovery. In every case, we treat our client with dignity, respect and genuine care.

All programs begin with sub-acute detox to help rid the body of mood-altering substances. Our nursing staff provides 24-hour supervision to help you or your loved one cope with withdrawal symptoms. Counselors are always available to help with any underlying mental or emotional issues that may surface.

Within the first 24 hours of admission, the patient receives:

  • Medication to alleviate withdrawal symptoms
  • Medical consultation and individualized treatment recommendations
  • Three nutritional meals per day

To provide optimum support, we offer the following services during detox:

  • Daily physician services
  • 24-hour professionally directed care and treatment by licensed, certified or registered clinicians
  • Proper nutrition to assist in restoring the body to health
  •  An introduction to group counseling and 12-step recovery meetings to help you remain motivated as you move through the most difficult part of recovery
  • Medication (i.e., Buprenorphine) for symptom relief during withdrawal
  • A safe, comfortable environment for rest and relaxation

After an average 5-10 day detox, the patient is medically stabilized and is ready to begin treatment in extended recovery.

Residential & Extended Recovery Program

Self-discovery and reflection on underlying issues that have contributed to substance use is the hallmark of extended recovery.

Using talk therapy such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Motivational Interviewing, group counseling, recreational therapy and time alone to process thoughts and feelings, clients have ample support and freedom to understand personal triggers and habits associated with their substance use. Our compassionate staff—many of whom have been in these same shoes at some point in their lives—are on hand to offer honest feedback and genuine caring.

As you transition to a different level of care or continue your healing journey, you’ll find the same commitment to compassionate, evidence-based treatment. Our outpatient treatments will enable you to reintegrate into your life while still getting the support you need.

Intensive Outpatient Treatment (IOP)

IOP offers you the freedom and flexibility to take care of your responsibilities at home, and to keep your presence at school or work, while continuing your recovery.

If you have a strong network of family and friends who want to see you sober, IOP may be an appropriate option.

We know that leaving inpatient treatment can put a person at risk. That’s why we’ve established practices in our IOP to guide our clients as they transition into a new way of life, while staying connected to the support they’ve established during their inpatient experience. It’s an excellent chance to utilize the skills acquired during the acute phase of treatment.

The emphasis of IOP is on how to recognize destructive habits and cope with triggers in everyday life as the individual experiences both adversity and happiness. We help the client eliminate situations and things that would trip them up once they’re out on their own.

Services include:

  • Intensive Outpatient Counseling for mental, emotional and spiritual wellbeing
  • Group counseling
  • Individual counseling
  • 12-Step recovery groups
  • Peer Support Services, which includes assistance with job searches, doctor appointments, getting a driver’s license and more
  • Relapse prevention to address triggers, stressors and cravings
  • Case management while integrating into work, school and other obligations

Even after our clients complete treatment, we continue to support you with continuing care for an additional 8-10 weeks.

In this treatment program, the client has an opportunity to demonstrate how they are navigating their personal recovery plan. We discuss challenges, barriers and the successful application of recovery tools. At First Step Recovery we’ve designed an inclusive peer program that offers support to empower our alumni to make healthy choices.

Topics covered in the Program are specific to what is needed for a successful integration into life. These include decision-making skills, stress management, self-care and other essential support that needed to cope with all aspects of life. Discussions happen in group and one-on-one scenarios.

It’s an ongoing environment to stand for oneself and each other. With our Peer Support Program, you are never alone.
